Cello Lessons - Flexible teaching schedule, 1st Lesson Free |
After obtaining cello faculty positions at the Merit School of Music and the Logos School of Music, I have decided to expand my home studio. As an alumnus of Roosevelt University's Music Conservatory, and former principal cellist of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, I will teach you the same skills I have learned throughout nearly 20 years of studying.
The cello is, without a doubt, one of the more beautiful musical instruments. Its deep, soothing sound mimics the human voice. The playing position it requires is among the most natural of any instrument. You do not have to be a contortionist to play it well.
There is no age limit. My youngest student is 8 and my oldest is 70. There are no prerequisites. The only thing that is required of you is that you commit some time to practicing at home.
Lessons are $65/hour. Flexible hours (before 2pm and after 7pm). Mention this article and I will give you the first lesson free. Weekly lessons are recommended, but there is no obligation or contract. I teach out of my home in Chicago's South Loop.
Some advice: If you do not yet have a cello, there are many rental programs offered by shops around town that will also apply your rental fees toward the instrument, should you later choose to buy. Whatever you do, stay away from the plywood cello "kits" you see for sale online. They are difficult to play, and will make your experience very unpleasant.
